San Antonio hotels generated only $97.1 million in the second quarter, which beat Austin by nearly $4 million. In second quarter 2019, Austin’s hotel market generated $460 million more than San Antonio.
“Clearly, the folks with the most to lose lost the most,” Vaughn said. “Austin has been riding high for years. Its collapse was spectacular.”
That doesn’t lessen the hurt San Antonio’s hotel sector is enduring.
“It’s still pretty devastating for our area,” Vaughn said.
